The engine
NOVASWARM is built from scratch on WebGPU, the modern successor to WebGL that finally gives the browser real compute shaders. Enemy AI, bullet physics, collision, and particles never touch your CPU. They run in parallel across thousands of GPU threads, every frame.
Each drone runs sampled-neighbour flocking (separation, alignment, cohesion) plus a seek toward your ship, in a compute shader over a ping-ponged storage buffer. Emergent swarm motion at swarm scale, with zero CPU bookkeeping.
Thousands of enemies test themselves against your fire in parallel. Hits are arbitrated with atomic compare-and-claim so one bullet removes exactly one drone, even when hundreds resolve in the same microsecond.
Every kill detonates into a burst from a pool of 24,576 particles. The compute shader claims slots with an atomic ring cursor, so the GPU spawns and recycles effects without ever asking the main thread.
A spring-mass grid warps around your ship in its own compute pass. The scene renders to an HDR float target, then a separable bloom, chromatic aberration, ACES tonemap, vignette, and film grain composite it down. That neon glow is light, not a texture.
